The castle of Agios Georgios is one of the 3 castles in Preveza, It is located at the south end of the old city, near the beach of "Kyani Akti".

History

Preveza is loacated in a strategic but vulnerable position and, for this reason, its fortification was important.
The Ottoman Turks were the first who fortified the city on the 15th century. Their first fortress was the castle of Buca which was later destroyed and the materials were used to build the castles of Agios Andreas and Agios Georgios.
