On the top of the hill of Karyoupolis, in Mani, there is a tower that dominates the landscape. This is the tower of Kosonakos which was built i the first years after the Greek Revolution of 1821.
The tower is next to the fortress of Kavallierakis-Fokas.
The village of Karyopolis should not be confused with the Old Karyopolis which is a medieval town (abandoned and ruined today) and is located a few kilometers to the west of the modern Karyopolis.

| Like all Mani towers, the access to the surroundings is free without difficulty, but the entrance is not possible. The tower is usually closed unless a visit can be arranged with the authorities or the owner. |
