A castle at the north shore of Crete on a rocky hill close to Sitia and the village Chamezi.

It was built by the Venetians around the end of the 16th century after repeated appeals to the Venetian Senate, in order to protect the local population from the Turks. The castle that was created was strong and spacious but did not prove useful as the loclas found refuge in Chandax and the Turks who occupied the region a few decades later did not use it.
