The tower of Miloutin is a dependency of the Monastery of Chilandarion in Athos. It is 45m high and a typical sample of the towers of the Late-Byzantine period with characteristic external buttresses in each side.
It was built around the middle of the 13th century. The monastery and its possessions were granted by the Byzantines to the Serbs since 1198.

The tower is named after Stephen Uroš II Milutin king of Serbia in the period 1281-1321. Milutin made Serbia a major force in the Balkans. He was also well known as a defender of the Christian Orthodox faith and the founder of many monasteries: Gračanica monastery, Our Lady of Ljeviš, the church of Vavedenje in Hilandar and many more.
Despite the name, Miloutin is not the founder of this particular tower in Mt.Athos, but he ordered the construction of the upper floor and the roof in 1302.
