Samikon was an ancient city abandoned around the 6th century AD and revived as a fort during Fragokratia and the Ottoman period.
Location & Strategic Scope
The location is of a certain strategic importance because it controls the narrow passage of “Kleidi” between the mountains of Eleia and the western coast of Peloponnese.
