A cave with a simple fortified wall protecting its entrance inside a rock cavity, in a gorge south of Prousos in Evrytania.

This gorge is one of the most beautiful places in Evrytania and one of the most beautiful gorges in Greece.

The cave is at a remote location and requires hiking of 1 to 1.5 hours. Fortunately, there is a path with very good signage. The path starts from the monastery of Panagia of Prousos.

We do not know much more about the cave. Like all similar caves in Greece, it must have been used in different periods as a refuge or as a den. Or perhaps a chapel.
The fortification wall at its entrance was probably constructed during the Tourkokratia.

First entry in Kastrologos:    December 2019
