On the little island in the bay with the same name of north-eastern Zakyntos, there are remains of a church and a monastery dated back to the early-Christian period.
Among the ruins there are the remains of a Venetian Vardiola (watchtower). The tower is at the top of the rock and haw an unusual layout: circular with a protrusion at the east side.
